How To Use Normal Internet Plan On Blackberry

 blackberry

Blackberry mobiles are different from Android devices or iPhones because they come with their own internet service, called the BIS or Blackberry Internet Service. Blackberry mobile phones have their own unique features and come with many benefits. For instance, Blackberry phones have impeccable security – which you don’t get with any other phone, not from an Android device, and not even from an iPhone.

So, what is Blackberry Internet Service (BIS)?

Blackberry Internet Service is a proprietary service which is provided by your Internet Service Provider only to the users of Blackberry phones. A general internet plan does not work with Blackberry devices and they require special BIS packages. BIS offers a special email service and synchronizes your emails, allowing you to receive and access email from multiple servers, such as IMAP, POP3 and OWA.

Why is it important to know How to use Normal Internet Plan on Blackberry?

When you purchase a brand new Blackberry mobile phone, you will be asked to create a new BIS account, which differs from one ISP to another. A Blackberry Internet Service wouldn’t pose a problem if the Blackberry has been provided to you by the company you work. In that case, the company takes care of your BIS account and pays for it entire.
However, when one buys Blackberry as an individual, it’s not quite as easy because Blackberry plans are really quite expensive. That’s why it would help to know the trick to use normal internet plan on Blackberry, without using the Blackberry Internet Service. But is it possible to access the internet on your Blackberry mobile without Blackberry Internet Service?
It certainly is, and we will reveal a simple trick to use normal internet plan on Blackberry. While you will be able to use your Blackberry for all normal services available on the internet with this plan, such as browsing, using social media apps, messaging apps and other sort of apps, there is one unavoidable hitch with this plan – you cannot use any Blackberry specific service if you use a normal internet plan instead of a Blackberry plan.

So you will have to decide what’s more important to you – the savings you’ll achieve by shifting to a normal internet plan versus the benefits of a Blackberry specific service. Once you’ve reached a decision on that, you can then learn how to use normal internet plan on Blackberry. Here’s how to do it….

Here’s what you’ll need to make this trick work…

A Blackberry handset, a 3G internet pack and an external browser such as Opera Mini.
Now, let’s get started!

  • Step 1. Get a recharge done on your number from a 3G internet pack.
  • Step 2. Go to “menu”, and select “options” on your Blackberry. Once there, click on the option, “Advanced”.
  • Step 3. Now, select “TCP/IP”.
  • Step 4. In the TCP/IP box, you will be asked for the APN of your mobile operator. If you’re not sure about your mobile operator’s APN, do call their customer support and ask about it. This is just basic information and you wouldn’t have a problem getting it. Now enter the APN.
  • Step 5. That’s it. Leave everything else as they are and get back to your home screen.

Congratulations! You have successfully changed the settings on your Blackberry to work with your normal internet plan. Now, you will be able to use your normal 3G or 4G internet pack in future with your Blackberry and you can henceforth use it as a regular service.

The only problem though is that you won’t be able to access Blackberry specific services. That is the only flaw with our trick to use normal internet plan on Blackberry.
